The current id2 Program cycle includes boys born in 2000 and girls born in 1999.
Note: Beginning in Fall 2013 with the creation of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy U-14 age group, full-time USSDA U-14 players are not eligible to participate in the id2 Program. This is due to U.S. Soccer rules that prohibit full-time USSDA players from participating in outside soccer leagues and events. Developmental players in the U-14 USSDA, however, are still eligible to participate in the id2 Program.
|id2 PROGRAM OVERVIEW:|
Established in 2004, US Club Soccer’s id2 National Identification and Development Program provides an opportunity for the country's elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed, while also being scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs.
The id2 Program is an Olympic Development Program as approved by the United States Olympic Committee and U.S. Soccer Federation.
Targeted birth years are established every year in consultation with U.S. Soccer in order to align with the scouting priorities for the U-14 National Teams. The steps below outline the process once targeted birth years are established.
Recommendation and Identification: A national scouting and recommendation process for targeted birth years is used to form the id2 Program player pool. US Club Soccer solicits player recommendations from coaches throughout the country, which supplement the organization’s own process that utilizes a network of key scouts at various league games and events.
Evaluation and Invitation: After an evaluation process, top players from the pool are invited to participate in an id2 Program Training Camp.
Participation in id2 Training Camp: Invited players participate in an id2 Training Camp, where they work with some of the nation’s best coaches, play with and against some of the nation’s best players in their age group, and are scouted by on-site U.S. Soccer staff. In addition to on-field sessions, the camps feature guest speakers, lectures/classroom sessions and other offerings, which make for a multi-faceted learning experience.
National Selection Programming: Top performers at id2 Training Camps throughout the cycle are selected for participation in the id2 National Selection International Tour for boys or the id2 National Selection Training Camp for girls. U.S. Soccer staff also selects specific players to attend U.S. Soccer National Team programs.
- Submit player recommendations at usclubsoccer.org/recommend
Any coach is able to recommend players with national team potential for inclusion at an id2 Training Camp by using the id2 Player Recommendation Form.
Because players significantly mature and can dramatically change in short periods at these ages, recommendations will be collected ahead of each pair of id2 Training Camps within a given season.
Coaches should submit recommendations for all pertinent players ahead of each pair of camps regardless of whether the player has been previously recommended.
|id2 TRAINING CAMPS:|
Player recommendations will be accepted for the following camps for 2000 boys and 1999 girls until August 15, 2013:
- Sept. 26-29, 2013 at PDA Soccer Complex in Zarephath, N.J.
- Dec. 12-15, 2013 at Grande Sports World in Casa Grande, Ariz.
Two other id2 Training Camps targeting the same age groups were previously held in Spring 2013:
