Baer currently resides just outside of Columbus in Worthington, Ohio, although he originally hails from La Jolla, Calif., where he played for the La Jolla Nomads. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, and received a master's degree from The Ohio State University. After college, he spent two years working with the USISL's Columbus XOGGZ and three years with the Columbus Crew of Major League Soccer. An "A"-licensed coach, Baer is currently in his seventh year coaching the Ohio Premier Girls' Soccer Club.
