William Sage, Executive Director bsage@usclubsoccer.org

In July of 2001, US Club Soccer hired William Sage as Executive Director and CEO. Sage has an extensive soccer background, having been employed in several high-profile positions and serving on numerous soccer boards and committees. Most recently, Sage was Chief Administrative Officer of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). From that position, he oversaw eight Federation departments, including finance, legal, membership services, coaching education, international games and referees.

Prior to the USSF, Sage was one of the founding executives of Major League Soccer and spent five years as the organization’s Executive Vice President, where he was responsible for all league operations. He was also a founder and Commissioner of the American Professional Soccer League (APSL) and President of Football Club Seattle. He has served on the USSF Board on three separate occasions as well as the Executive Committee and Rules Committee. His background includes law practice, managing several high-profile political campaigns, and serving as a Congressional Chief of Staff. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan law and undergraduate schools.
