Championships awarded in 2010 Northern Illinois Cup, NISL Premier League

CHARLESTON, S.C. (July 8, 2010) – Championships were awarded in U-9 through U-18 boys’ age groups as the Northern Illinois Cup came to a close June 19-20 at Olympic Park in Schaumburg, Ill. Nearly 300 teams took part in the second-annual event, which began with preliminary games in early April.
In all, teams from 11 different clubs earned state championships, including four from Chicago Magic SC. South Suburban SA and Chicago Blast also tallied multiple titles, with each club boasting a pair of champion squads.
Following the completion of preliminary games in late April, teams advanced to a double-elimination round that began on May 1 and culminated with the Northern Illinois Cup Finals June 19-20.

In addition, the 2010 NISL Premier League season concluded on June 25 with champions being crowned across six boys’ age groups. By virtue of their Premier League status, the winners of each U-13 through U-17 division earned a spot in the 2010 National Cup IX Finals, to be held July 30-Aug. 2 in Virginia Beach, Va.
Sockers FC was the lone club to claim multiple Premier League titles as squads from the club won the U-13 and U-14 divisions. In the U-16 age group, Ajax FC Chicago was the only team to complete a double by earning both the Premier League and Northern Illinois Cup titles this season.
