CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 28, 2012) – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in conjunction with US Club Soccer, will conduct a Director of Coaching Diploma Course May 18-20 at the Spring Hill Suites in the Birmingham suburb of Hoover, Ala.

These 21-hour non-residential courses are designed to address the issues confronting the director of an American club. The curriculum is created jointly by US Club Soccer and the NSCAA and examines technical, conceptual, leadership and administrative skills of current and future directors of coaching for youth soccer clubs for the purpose of developing players.

This is accomplished through a curriculum rich in application and theory and will focus on organizational structure, methods of coaching, leadership theory, sport psychology, evaluation and development of coaches and players as well as fiscal, legal and moral responsibility. Candidates will understand each of the individual units of the club as well as the interrelationship of those parts to achieve the specific goals and objectives of a youth soccer club.

Acceptance into the course requires an NSCAA National Diploma or USSF “C” License, as well as a letter of support from one of the following: club board member, NSCAA State Director or NSCAA Regional Director. The letter of support must be submitted with the application form.

The fee for the course is $360.

Check-in will begin at 4:45 p.m. on Fri., May 18, and the course will start at 5:30 p.m. The course will conclude by 2:30 p.m. on Sun., May 20.
