First ECNL National Event of the year draws to a close in Phoenix

The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) hosted its first National Event of the 2012-13 season Sept. 28 - Oct. 1 in Arizona, drawing 140 of the nations top girls club to dessert of Phoenix.

The event was the first of five ECNL National Showcases, at which the most competitive female soccer players in the country are able to showcase their skills in front of more than 300 college coaches and U.S. Soccer scouts, as well as participate in a club-style competition between the nation's premier clubs.

Each team at the U-15 and U-18 age groups participates in two National Events throughout the ECNL's eight-month long regular season, while each team at the U-16 and U-17 age groups participates in three of these events.

The Phoenix event played host to teams from the U-14, U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 age groups, and will be followed by an event in Florida in late December.

The 2012-13 National Event Series will resume in Frisco, Texas, in February, and continue on to San Diego in April, finally coming to a close at the PDA Showcase tournament in Zarephath, N.J., in May 2013.
