US Club Soccer sanctions New York Club Soccer League

[New York Club Soccer League Web site]

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Oct. 14, 2009) – US Club Soccer has sanctioned the New York Club Soccer League, a U-10 through U-12 youth travel program to begin in March 2010.

The league will bring new and flexible programs to Long Island and the five New York City boroughs. Specific details on additional programming and components will be announced in the future.

“We are changing the landscape of soccer on Long Island and in the tri-state area,” said Gary Grossman, President of the New York Club Soccer League. “The league will provide parity, top competition, flexibility and an opportunity for all. We have a very clear and direct vision for what we are looking to accomplish, and we are glad to be a part of the US Club Soccer family.”

While the New York Club Soccer League will offer a U-10 through U-12 travel program, the Just Say Soccer (JSS) League will continue to provide U-8 and U-9 programs, which are sanctioned by SAY Soccer.

“The New York Club Soccer League is a good example of two USSF members working together for the improvement of the game,” said US Club Soccer Executive Director Bill Sage. “A lot of work has been done behind the scenes. We look forward to advancing the league.”

“We are proud to work in unison with US Club Soccer to bring choices to local communities,” said Sheila Shay-Mole, SAY Soccer’s National Executive Director. “All recreational associations need to be aware that there are options when it comes to registering their youth programs. They have the ability to register their recreational programs with SAY and their select/premiere programs with US Club Soccer. This is a perfect example of two separate USSF members joining forces to satisfy all levels of soccer, to the benefit of the community but more importantly, all youth soccer players throughout the United States.”
