Fifteen champions crowned at the 2012 Ohio Cup

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 19, 2012) – The Ohio Cup drew to a close June 16-17 with 15 teams earning championships as the semifinals and finals were held at the Value City Furniture Fields at Easton in Columbus, Ohio. The event included boys and girls teams in the U-12 through U-17 age groups with two levels of competition.
Cincinnati United led all clubs at the event with the most titles won, earning five championships and competing in nine finals. The club won the U-12 Girls Super Group title in addition to boys championships in the U-13, U-15, and U-16 Super Groups and U-16 Premier Group. Ohio Elite and Internationals each claimed a pair of championships as well.

"The Ohio Cup has been a great postseason event for our CUP girls and boys teams," said Scott Rodgers, Executive Director for Cincinnati United. "Our teams performed well against some tough competition from across Ohio. Advancing 12 teams to the semifinals weekend and coming away with five titles and four runner-up finishes is a very impressive run."
Winners in the U-13 through U-17 age groups will advance to the National Cup XI Finals, to be held July 27-30 in Waukegan, Ill. Any US Club Soccer-registered team may participate in the National Cup XI Regional of their choosing, including the Midwest Region to be held June 29 – July 2 in Libertyville, Ill.
