Boise to host first-ever Idaho Cup

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 28, 2009) – US Club Soccer’s first-ever Idaho Cup will take place Nov. 7-8, 2009, for U-13 through U-15 teams and April 9-11, 2010, for U-16 through U-18 squads. Both events will be held at the Boise Capital Soccer Complex, hosted in cooperation with the Boise Capital Soccer Club.
Idaho Cup is the state championship event for member clubs and teams that hold US Club Soccer passcards. Non-member teams may apply to the Idaho Cup by also registering with US Club Soccer.
“Having held a National Cup Regional at the Boise Capital Soccer Complex for two years in the past, we know that the Idaho Cup will benefit from a first-class facility and a first-class hosting organization,” US Club Soccer Executive Director Bill Sage said. “We look forward to this inaugural event.”
Teams will play a round-robin format in groups of three or four. The two teams with the highest number of points after round-robin play will meet in a championship game.
Additionally, winners will be given preferential seeding at US Club Soccer’s 2010 National Cup IX Regionals.
Applications are currently being accepted for the U-13 through U-15 event [link to application], while the application process for the U-16 through U-18 event will open in early 2010.
Application fees are $400 for U-13 and U-14 teams and $450 for U-15 through U-18 squads. The deadline to apply for the U-13 through U-15 event is Oct. 20.
“The Capitals are proud to host US Club Soccer’s inaugural Idaho Cup,” Boise Capital SC Director of Coaching Dave Chesler said. “We just completed a six-month regeneration of our beautiful natural grass surface. We hope that the quality of our facility, professional equipment and convenient location will serve to stimulate the highest level of competition. We are intent on establishing a high benchmark for future Idaho Cup events.”
