CHARLESTON, S.C. (Nov. 5, 2009) – The dates, locations and venues have been finalized and applications are currently available for US Club Soccer’s 2010 National Cup IX, the organization’s signature national championship competition.

National Cup IX Regionals are open to U-11 through U-18/19 boys’ and girls’ teams registered with US Club Soccer. Winners in the U-13 through U-17 age groups from each Regional advance to the National Cup IX Finals, where national championships will be awarded in two competitive divisions.

For the third successive year, the annual National Collegiate Showcase will be held in conjunction with the National Cup Finals in the tourist destination of Virginia Beach, Va., maximizing college coach attendance.

US Club Soccer has increased the number of Regionals it offers in each of the past four years. In 2010, National Cup IX Regionals will be held in a total of 12 cities, including inaugural events in Chicago, Columbus, Phoenix, Seattle and Vero Beach, Fla.

APPLICATION HIGHLIGHTS

AGE GROUPS:
National Cup Regionals: U-11 to U-18/19 boys' and girls' teams
National Collegiate Showcase: U-15 to U-17 boys' and girls' teams

FEES:
National Cup:
$795 for U-13 through U-18/19 teams^
$595 for U-11 and U-12 teams^
^if paid 45 days prior to the Regional start date; thereafter, fees increase by $100

National Collegiate Showcase:  $950 [see special offer below]

*Teams that register 10 teams for the 2010 National Cup IX will receive a fee waiver for an 11th team

*There is no fee to participate in the National Cup Finals. Participation in the event is covered in the initial National Cup application fee.

*Teams that apply for the National Collegiate Showcase and subsequently advance to the National Cup IX Finals will be refunded their Showcase entry fee ($950 or $705 if taking advantage of the special offer below).

*As in previous years, a team that has applied or a National Cup Regional which subsequently qualifies for a US Youth Soccer Regional, and chooses to attend the US Youth Soccer Regional, will receive a full refund.

*In all other cases, the fee is non-refundable.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL CUP AND NATIONAL COLLEGIATE SHOWCASE:
*The National Collegiate Showcase application fee will be discounted by $245 if a team also applies for the 2010 National Cup IX at the same time (by selecting the appropriate button on the application).

*Both applications must be submitted and paid 45 days prior to the Regional start date.

*As a result of this special offer, teams are encouraged to take advantage of the guaranteed spot in Virginia Beach by applying early and promptly beginning to plan travel, as the dates of competition are already known.

COMPETITION LEVEL:
Teams apply to the Premier level. A tournament committee, consisting of neutral regional club soccer coaches, will provide input on seeding. US Club Soccer will also review all tournament and league history that has been provided by the applicant, and several online rankings will be consulted. Qualified teams will be promoted to the Super Group level.

CHOOSING A LOCATION:
No restrictions; teams are able to attend any Regional, regardless of geographic considerations. Each team may only apply to one Regional.

ELIGIBILITY:
Both the National Cup and National Collegiate Showcase are restricted to US Club Soccer-carded teams. Teams that are not currently members may join prior to the event [How to Apply].


About US Club Soccer:
US Club Soccer is a non-profit organization whose mission is to develop competitive club soccer in the United States. A member of the United States Soccer Federation since July 2001, US Club Soccer has grown to include member clubs and leagues in 50 states. In addition to sanctioning and administering tournaments, leagues and other competitions as well as offering a range of programs for its members, US Club Soccer annually conducts the National Cup and the National Collegiate Showcase.
