Championship teams to earn free berth to a National Cup XI event

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Nov. 28, 2011) – Online applications are now available for the 2012 Ohio Cup, US Club Soccer’s state championship event for member teams. The event for U-12 through U-19 boys and girls will be held from March to June.

For the first time in 2012, championship-winning teams will earn a free berth to a National Cup XI event. Winners in the U-12 and U-18/19 age groups will advance to the National Cup XI Midwest Regional, to be held June 29-July 2 in Libertyville, Ill. Champions in the U-13 through U-17 age groups will advance directly to the National Cup XI Finals, slated for July 27-30 in Waukegan, Ill.

The 2012 Ohio Cup will kick off with self-scheduled group play taking place from March through June leading towards the semifinals and finals, which will be held June 16-17 in Columbus.

Registration for the 2012 Ohio Cup is $300 for teams in all age groups. The application deadline is Dec. 19.

A Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group will be available where necessary. Championship-winning teams in both divisions would be eligible to advance to a National Cup XI event.
