CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 11, 2012) – Scouts from US Club Soccer’s id2 National Player Identification and Development Program will be on-site at each National Cup XI event, giving players the opportunity to be observed and evaluated for potential inclusion in an id2 Program event.
These scouts will be looking to identify players with national team potential to be included in the id2 Program, which provides an opportunity for the country's elite youth soccer players to be identified and developed, while also being scouted for inclusion in U.S. Soccer’s National Team programs. Scouts will primarily be targeting boys born in 1999 and girls born in 1998.
Players that are identified at National Cup XI events will be added to the id2 Program player pool, which also includes individuals identified through a comprehensive national scouting and recommendation program. From this player pool, top players are invited to attend events such as id2 Program Training Camps, the ECNL / id2 National Training Camp and the id2 National Selection International Tour.
National Cup XI online applications are currently available for Regionals running from Memorial Day weekend through July 9. National Cup XI Regionals are open to U-11 through U-18/19 boys’ and girls’ teams registered with US Club Soccer. Winners in the U-13 through U-17 age groups from each Regional will advance to the National Cup XI Finals, to be held July 27-30 at Waukegan Sports Park in Waukegan, Ill.
Among the pool of id2 Program scouts to be in attendance at National Cup XI Events are id2 Boys Program Director Gerry McKeown, id2 Girls Program Director Rory Dames and id2 Scouting Coordinator Daniel Allen. Additional id2 Program scouts may also be utilized.
Any coach is also able to recommend players with national team potential for inclusion in the id2 Program player pool by using the Player Recommendation Form.
