Monday, June 23, 2008, 6:15 PM EST- Pittgrove, NJ- Day three of the Pittsgrove, NJ regional is near an end, as semi-final matchups end and championship aspirations begin. All but one championship matchup is set, with one team already winning their bracket, as the U14 Premier championship was won by FC Virginia.

Weather hasn't been too much of an issue, even though for a second day in a row, severe thunderstorms has been in the forecast.

Not to worry, those sprinklers are watering the football fields directly behind.

Monday, June 23, 2008, 3 PM PST- Modesto, Calif.-
The third round of games has started here at the Ripon and Turlock Sports Complexes. The fields have seen action since 8 a.m. this morning as teams have been competing for a spot in the semifinals later in the afternoon. The U13 Diablo FC team took one of the first victories of the day after defeating Sonoma County 2 to 0. Head coach for Diablo FC, Sisleide DoAmor, is better known as "Sissi" and for her twenty years on Brazil's National Womens Soccer Team. Sissi, whose 7 goals in the 1999 FIFA Womens World Cup awarded her the Golden Boot Award, is no stranger to victory but talked about the difficulty involved in making the switch from the field to the sidelines,

"It's a big transition, I'm really competitive, I want the girls to play like I do and have the same passion as me but I can't push them."

With two rival teams merging to form the U13 Diablo FC team, the players are finishing their first year together as a team and their success has put to rest initial doubts about the girls' ability to work well together.

"It took a while for the chemistry to form between the girls but I have had a lot of fun this year," Sissi said about the new team.

The Diablo FC United team also beat the Modesto United girls 2 to 1. Their tie with the San Juan Spirits prevented them from advancing to the semifinals but US Club Soccer anticipates their return next year.

Sunday, June 22, 2008, 9:30 PM PST- San Bernadino, CA-

As day two comes to a close the teams are positioning themselves to make the semi’s and the finals. It is going to come down to the final day to decide whom will move on. In Bracket play many find themselves tied in points and the last day will decide the outcome.

In the u11 boys, bracket one 4 teams find themselves in a good position to make the finals. It is going to come down to the final day of action to decide whom will move on to the finals. In bracket one, FC Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain find themselves both with 4 points. In Bracket two, a showdown will happen tomorrow morning when Celtic and Del Mar Sharks will square off to decide whom will play on the final day.

In a tightly contested u15 boys group, every bracket will come down to the final game to decide whom will move on to the semi finals. As it looks right now we have 6 teams vying for 4 spots in the semi’s. These six teams include: Pateadores, Del Mar Sharks, Rampage, FC San Diego, South Bay, and LAFC. This age group should be one to watch as these teams will battle it out. It is also the same in the boys group as every bracket will come down to the final day to decide whom will move on. We have nine teams vying for 4 spots in the semi’s.

On the girls sides, the u13 girls bracket find themselves in the same situation as the boys u15. Six teams vying for four spots. These teams include: FC Barcelona, Legends FC, ASC Express, AC Alliance, CSC Crusaders, and another team from Legends FC.

Everyone is looking forward to tomorrow, which should go down as a highly competitive day. Stay tuned to find out, whom will move on to the semi’s and finals.

Day two kicked off after some great games last night. Last night in the u17 age group we had last years finalist Chivas Jr. USA beat Rio Vista 2-0. This was a game that was very close. The excitement continues here at the Ripon fields in Modesto, Calif. as the U15 Premiere group called for penalty kicks to determine the number four semifinal seeding. The fate of the Atletico Santa Rosa boys and Sacramento United team was left to a lineup of five players from each team. Atletico's keeper helped to secure the team's chances of advancing to the semifinals by blocking two of Sacramento's shots. Sacramento's two goals were not enough to prevail over Santa Rosa's six goals. Atletico's victory placed them as the fourth seed in the semifinals and they will go on to play the Lobitos boys at 3:30.

With a 1 to 1 tie the teams took the field with determination in the second half. South Valley’s keeper gave a great performance with excellent saves throughout the game. Santa Clara stole the win with a beautiful header from Alejandro Flores. Bryson Clark, who attended US Club Soccer’s ID2 camp last September, claimed both assists for Santa Clara. The Santa Clara Sporting U15 boys remain undefeated after their 2 p.m. game here at the Ripon fields in Modesto, Calif. Their close 2 to 1 win over the Walnut Creek Diablos kept the spectators on their toes. Strong defense on both teams kept the score 0 to 0 throughout the first half. The Santa Clara boys seemed to have trouble finishing in the beginning of the game. The Diablos soon found themselves up 1 to 0 in the beginning of the second half after scoring within the first ten minutes. The Santa Clara boys refused to give up and answered with a goal of their own to tie the score. Number 24, Juan Roble, scored Santa Clara's first goal. Roble's shot on goal stirred up emotions on the sidelines after the referee overruled an offsides call against Santa Clara. With the score tied and less than 15 minutes remaining in the game both teams gave it their all. A penalty in the box against Santa Clara Sporting resulted in Manuel Flores' game winning penalty kick.
