ABOUT DONALD McNAUGHTON:  A well-known sport psychologist, Donald McNaughton has worked with many professional soccer clubs overseas, particularly in his native Scotland. McNaughton is a member of Scotland's Highland Institute of Sport staff, and has also assisted his home country's men's national team.


RECAP OF VISIT:  McNaughton spoke to all California id2 players during his hour-long session on Friday evening, at which time he went through a condensed version of the same program he uses with professional teams. Highlighted topics include:  mental toughness, achieving goals and identifying/emphasizing one's strengths while learning to work around one's weaknesses.
