Local host Colorado Storm captures three championships at 2009 National Cup VIII Denver Regional

DENVER (June 16, 2009) - The inaugural Region K tournament as part of US Club Soccer's National Cup VIII has concluded, with 12 squads claiming regional champions.

Hosting club Colorado Storm captured three Denver Regional championships, while local rivals Colorado Edge and Real Colorado each captured a pair of titles.

"I think it speaks to the importance we put on this tournament," Colorado Storm North Boys 94 Copa head coach Paul Hogan said of the club's success at the National Cup VIII Denver Regional. "I know coaches were getting ready for this event, they were preparing and doing a lot of training. We wanted to put on a good showing, and I think we did that. It's something that we do look forward to."

Seven states were represented at the Dallas Regional: Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Nebraska, Arizona, Nevada and Texas. The diversity was something of benefit for many squads, including Hogan's.

"We played teams that we didn't play much," Hogan added. "We've not played Cisco SC before, we've not played the Utah Rush before, so those games were good competitions. It's good to play out-of-state teams that you're not normally used to in a competitive environment where you move on. It's a great environment to try and push kids and see how good they are."
