Question: Why did Austin Texans Soccer Club apply for Players First licensing?
Ric Granryd, General Manager of Austin Texans Soccer Club: We are a family-friendly and player-centric club, so the metrics of the licensing fits how we operate. While certainly we are not perfect in all circumstances, we strive every day to improve our players’ soccer and life experiences.
Question: What does it mean for Austin Texans Soccer Club to now be an official Players First-licensed club?
Granryd: Being recognized as such, reinforces our club's best practices and communicates the type of organization we strive to be to a national audience.
Question: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?
Granryd: This recognition takes into account more than wins and losses and competitive platforms. We strive for those things too, but the quality of the player-family experience is what will generate a life-long love of the game.
Question: What would you like the parents of Austin Texans Soccer Club to know about what this means to them?
Granryd: That we are committed to creating that soccer experience which builds a life-long passion for the game – as a future player, as a future coach, as a future soccer parent, as a future soccer fan.
