Editor’s Note: Every quarter, US Club Soccer will announce the most recent class of Players First- licensed clubs. In the weeks to follow, those new clubs will be highlighted with Q&As from their directors.
Question: Why did Vision Soccer Academy apply for Players First licensing?
Chris McGill, Technical Director of Vision Soccer Academy: We believe wholeheartedly that the player experience is at the root of our club’s existence. US Club Soccer's Players First license is a nationally recognized stamp of approval and VSA aspires to be a top club for our players and families. The application process, as rigorous as it may be, gives us a chance to be assessed along seven pillars that range from Player Health & Safety to Parent Engagement.
Question: What does it mean for Vision Soccer Academy to now be an official Players First-licensed club?
McGill: It is very exciting and proves that we do meet the high standards and Good Housekeeping Seal for youth soccer clubs.
Question: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?
McGill: We are afforded benefits at no additional cost to our club that gives coaches exclusive access to a plethora of resources to help build a stronger club.
Question: What would you like the parents of Vision Soccer Academy to know about what this means to them?
McGill: The Players First license validates the work we do for our players and club members which we feel differentiates our club from any other in the state of Iowa. We continuously push ourselves to improve and by obtaining this status, parents should feel good that VSA is operating at the highest levels of the youth soccer landscape.
