WAUKEGAN, Ill. - Twenty-three teams came out on top of the 244-team field of the National Cup XVIII Midwest Regional, June 21-24 at the Waukegan Sports Park and Libertyville Township Soccer Complex. These teams proved their mettle after group stage and knockout round performances, and they’ll now prepare for the National Cup XVIII Finals later this month, where they’ll face similarly tested teams from around the country.
The Midwest Regional featured 13-U through 19-U boys and girls age groups with Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group divisions.
Multiple clubs found success on numerous levels throughout the Midwest Regional with Salvo SC winning five divisions (Boys 17-U Premier group, Boys 19-U Premier, Girls 14-U Super, Girls 16-U Premier, Girls 15-U Super) Eclipse Select clinching three groups (Boys 13-U Super, Boys 15-U Super, Boys 17-U Super). The Sockers FC also claimed two regional championships in the Boys 13-U Premier and Boys 14-U Premier groups.
Chicago Fire Juniors nearly had a second regional title within their grasp, but ultimately fell, 4-3, to Eclipse Select in the Boys 13-U Super Group. However, Chicago Fire Juniors would return the favor, as they topped Eclipse Select, 2-1, in the Boys 14-U Super Group championship match.

“We were extremely happy with how the event was run, and all of our teams faced great competition,” said Brian Kallman, Girls High Performance Director of Salvo SC. “We were able to put seven teams into the semi-finals and had a few more that barely missed out. Winning five of the championships was a great accomplishment for our Salvo family, parents and coaches. We are looking forward to representing the Midwest at Nationals.”
The National Cup XVIII Finals will be held July 19-23 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, featuring 13-U through 19-U boys and girls National Cup XVIII Regionals champions and qualifying state cup winners.
