If your child’s team is among those who qualified for the National Cup XVIII Finals, July 19-23 in Commerce City, Colorado, congratulations! You have some exciting games and great experiences to look forward to! Why not add a little family fun to your itinerary before and after the tourney?

Here are five highly recommended places to visit a short drive from Denver, courtesy of Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, the official Hotel and Hotel Loyalty Partner of US Club Soccer. Plan to spend anywhere from a few hours to a few days in these delightful towns.

Head downtown to the Pearl Street Mall. Here you’ll find fun-to-watch street performers and kids’ play areas, including a pop-jet fountain where children can cool off at Pearl and 14th Street. Want to hike in the mountains? The Chautauqua Trailhead has many kid-friendly trails. Afterward, stop by Boulder Reservoir for a swim or hit one of the city’s excellent public pools.

Estes Park
This beautiful town surrounded by the Rockies is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, a must-see and one of our nation’s most popular national parks. Be sure to drive Trail Ridge Road within the park for dramatic mountain views. The park features numerous hiking and horseback riding trails that allow you to get up close to nature. Always wanted to try whitewater rafting? Take an exhilarating half-day trip at A Wanderlust Adventure. And the whole family will love Fun City – go-karts, mini-golf, bumper cars and more!

Fort Collins
This town is often recognized as a top place to raise a family, so there’s no shortage of fun things to do. Visit the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery to stoke your children’s imagination with interactive science, music and history exhibits. See injured birds of prey at the Rocky Mountain Raptor Center. Stop by FoCo DoCo for a delicious snack of hot, made-to-order donuts. Try stand up paddleboarding at Horsetooth Reservoir. Wrap up the day with a movie at the Holiday Twin Drive-In, the state’s last operating drive-in theater.

The fun doesn’t end in these mountains when the snow melts. Rent mountain bikes at a local shop and head to Wellington Bike Park, which features tracks and terrain for kids of all ages and abilities. Visit Breckenridge Ski Resort and take the free BreckConnect Gondola to the mountaintop to ride the alpine slide, mountain coaster and zipline. Later, pan for gold in the resort’s Fun Park. Or head to Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park for thrilling rides, a climbing wall, cave tours and more.

Colorado Springs
Take the scenic highway to the top of 14,115-foot Pikes Peak and enjoy stunning views throughout your journey. Visit Ghost Town Wild West Museum to see authentic western buildings and artifacts and try your hand at the shooting gallery. Tour the ancient Manitou Cliff Dwellings and learn about the Anasazi people. See the Broadmoor Seven Waterfalls and tour the fascinating rock formations at the Garden of the Gods.

Best of luck in the tournament. We hope you enjoy your visit to Colorado!
