DUBLIN, Ohio | When LaLiga and US Club Soccer first agreed to a technical partnership four years ago, the two industry leaders agreed that youth soccer coaches in the U.S. could benefit the partnership. Fifteen LaLiga Formation Methodology courses later, LaLiga methodology – the principles used in LaLiga academies to help develop some of the world’s best players – continue to spread throughout the U.S., benefiting thousands of coaches and their players.
The latest LaLiga Formation Methodology course – a Level 3 (introductory) held in Dublin, Ohio, July 26-28, hosted by Ohio Premier Soccer Club – educated 67 coaches from 28 clubs and 10 different states. That brings the total impact to nearly 1,500 coaches and 400 clubs. Level 3 represents the introductory phase of the coaching series with ensuing Level 2 (advanced) and Level 1 (expert) completing the progression. The first-ever Level 1-U.S. course is just days away from kicking off in Elmhurst, Illinois.
This was the first time LaLiga Formation Methodology has been brought to Ohio. Thirteen coaches were from the host organization, Ohio Premier SC, while Columbus United (11), CT Impact United Soccer Academy (6) and Sporting Columbus (5) also showed significant investment in their coaching staffs.
The course consists of a combination of field and classroom sessions, as well as workshops to help coaches observe, absorb and put into action the principles they’re learning from LaLiga clinicians. Hugo Blanco oversees the US Club Soccer/LaLiga partnership and was on-site to implement the course curriculum, alongside talented clinicians Carlos Casal and Felipe Vega-Arango. Full bios of the UEFA-PRO coaches are available on the course web page.
