Players First partner Sideline Sports Doc has created the “Good to Go” app to educate parents and coaches on how to respond to any injury. While diagnosis and treatment are left to trained medical professionals, the app is designed for parents and coaches as a quick evaluator of injuries, including head, spine, upper extremities, abdomen and lower extremities.

The “Good to Go” app uses Sideline Sports Doc’s SAFE MethodTM algorithm, which is based on core principles used by team physicians and athletic trainers throughout the country. The SAFE MethodTM process stands for: Story, Appearance, Feel and Effort – helping those using the protocol to recognize what the first step should be in aiding an injured athlete. Busy coaches and parents with no medical training can use the app to help decide whether an injured player needs a bag of ice, can resume play or must see a doctor immediately.

For a limited time (through Sept. 2), the app is available at the discounted price of $7.99. A brief demo of the app can be viewed here.

Sideline Sports Doc is well integrated into US Club Soccer’s Player Health & Safety efforts, as the Sideline Sports Doc online injury recognition course – a valuable complement to this app – is a requirement for all US Club Soccer registered coaches and staff members. Since its creation a few years ago, more than 100,000 US Club Soccer coaches have completed the training. Earlier this summer, NEFC experienced a remarkable recovery in what could have been a tragic loss, if not for the safety training of NEFC coaches.

Sideline Sports Doc was founded by Dev Mishra, who is also an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at Stanford University and has 26 years of clinical practice experience as a team physician and orthopedic surgeon for U.S. Soccer, several professional teams and multiple NCAA Division I colleges. “By using the principles you’ve learned, you’ll contribute in a positive way to the health and safety of the young players you work with,” Mishra said. “The app is great for parents, administrators and coaches.”
