US Club Soccer and the Carolina Champions League have announced a new state championship and postseason qualifying pathway for teams based in North Carolina and South Carolina. The inaugural Carolina State Cup will be held across three weekends in May 2020 at Mecklenburg Sportsplex in Matthews, N.C.
The inaugural Carolina State Cup will feature at least three games for 13-U through 19-U boys teams and 13-U through 16-U girls competitors, with a semifinal and final match for those that qualify. The cup play dates will be held as follows:
Along with providing a competitive tournament platform featuring elite talent, the Carolina State Cup will also provide its 2020 champions a pathway to the National Cup XIX Finals – US Club Soccer’s cup-based championship.
Applications to the Carolina State Cup will open December 2 with an early registration price of $795 (UPDATE: Applications available here). The early registration window will expire on January 10, and then the fee increases until registration officially closes on January 31. Accepted teams will be announced on February 14.
On February 28, a live draw for brackets will be broadcasted on Facebook Live, before the final schedule is released on March 12. Further details to be announced soon.
