Players First club spotlight: Titans FC North Texas

By US Club Soccer, 01/24/20, 4:00PM EST

Editor’s Note: Every quarter, US Club Soccer announces the most recent class of Players First-licensed clubs. In the weeks to follow, the newest clubs will be highlighted with Q&As from their directors.

Question: Why did Titans FC North Texas apply for Players First licensing?

Tom Blencoe, Director of Coaching of Titans FC North Texas: We believe strongly in the player-centric approach and feel that our club values matched well with Players First. It has to be all about the player and providing the very best environment for each one of them to receive an educational experience to ultimately help them reach their true potential, not only as a athlete but a person. We will achieve that by continuously leading the way in coaching development with our programs and pathway for our staff. The relationship between the coach, player and parent is key to our overall success and is something we know having a Players First license will indeed highlight.

Question: What does it mean for Titans FC North Texas to now be an official Players First-licensed club?

Blencoe: We are honored to be recognized as a Players First-licensed club across the nation. We are in great company as we sit aside our sister program, Sting SC. As one organization, the goals and vision are one and we are excited for what’s next. The resources provided through the license will only help in our education of everyone associated with the club.

Question: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?

Blencoe: The application process was incredibly detailed and the follow-up communication just highlighted the professionalism of the initiative, and the people behind it. The application didn’t just focus on the end result but the process. Success is defined by each player reaching their true potential as a player and person. We also look forward to growing our network with other top clubs that share the Players First model.

Question: What would you like the parents of Titans FC North Texas to know about what this means to them?

Blencoe: We would like them to feel a sense of pride. We are a family club and it belongs to everyone involved, and we can’t be successful and continue to develop players through our programs and pathway without their support. Feel proud that you have your child in a place that was selected as one of the top clubs in the country, and be excited about this next piece of our long-term developing pathway. We are a full-service club and provide the best and right environment for all players and every level.
