Member Update: Rec staff registration to be completed online via SportsEngine NRS

By US Club Soccer, 03/09/20, 12:00PM EDT

Dear leadership/administrators of rec members,

Effective as of the 2020-21 Governing Season, US Club Soccer’s rec staff registration process will be completed online via the National Registration System (NRS), powered by SportsEngine.

In conjunction with that, the $5 rec staff registration/membership fee will be valid for two Governing Seasons. That means a registration/membership purchased on August 10, 2020, for example, will continue through July 31, 2022, rather than July 31, 2021, presuming all eligibility requirements are complete.

For clarification, rec player registration will continue offline via an Excel spreadsheet submitted to US Club Soccer.

This change for rec staff registration provides numerous benefits and, most importantly, continues to make the environment safer for our youth players through improved visibility into eligibility requirements and status.

More specifically, some benefits include:

  • Automated functionality. For example, once a rec staff membership is purchased (usually by a club registrar), the person being registered will receive an automated email with dynamic links to complete any outstanding eligibility requirements. In many cases, completion will be automatically reflected within one’s membership eligibility status without manual intervention or the need to upload certificates.
  • Ability to track completion of individual eligibility requirements and overall US Club Soccer registration status of your members via a dashboard.
  • Tools to send dynamic reminder emails – either in bulk or individually – directly to the person registering. Those emails provide action items and unique links to complete the outstanding membership eligibility requirements.
  • A process that mirrors that of competitive staff registration.

The ability to purchase rec staff memberships will only be available to those member organizations that have been sanctioned by US Club Soccer to run rec programming. SportsEngine is tagging these accounts accordingly and also creating new member organization accounts in the NRS for those that don’t currently exist. Once that is completed, applicable member organizations will receive an email with instructions to access their account.

More specific information regarding the registration process will follow ahead of the opening of the 2020-21 Governing Season, including help articles and tutorials.

Thanks for your time and commitment to player health and safety.
