National Cup XX Finals Day Three: On to the Next Round

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – 70 teams clinched either semifinals or finals berths after the conclusion of group stage competition at National Cup XX Finals on Sunday, July 18, at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park. Of those teams, 36 earned qualification in boys competition, while 34 did so in girls action.

National Cup, US Club Soccer’s cup-based national championship competition, had teams in both boys and girls competition representing 26 states for 13-U through U-19 age groups. All the teams qualified through five National Cup Regionals and qualifying state cups to advance to the National Cup Finals.

Just over half of the undefeated teams from yesterday still hold a record unblemished as the team tally is only at 24 squads. Of those teams, an even 12 were split between both girls and boys competition. In all age groups from U-13 through U-19, the Super Division groups will have semifinals contests tomorrow, while Premier Division teams qualify directly to the finals on Tuesday.

The National Cup XX Finals continue tomorrow, July 19, with Super Division semifinals action starting at 8:30 a.m. MDT to determine finals places on Tuesday. All teams competing in Premier Division finals on Tuesday will have an off-day tomorrow.
